Bernie Traurig & Maybe Forever at the World Cup Finals

Written by Bernie Traurig

During the World Cup Finals in Dortmund, Germany in 1990, the young, inexperienced horse, Maybe Forever, was filling in for my seasoned grand prix horse, Eastern Sunrise, who was out with an injury. Who would have thought he would be the only horse to go double clear over one of the most challenging indoor courses Olaf Petersen has ever designed.

One of the more difficult horses I’ve trained in my life, I couldn’t be more proud of him here and it just stamps the merits of consistent training and perseverance!

I competed again in the World Cup Finals with Maybe Forever in my own “backyard” of Del Mar, CA, where we finished 5th overall. The following two photos are from that time.
